DarkNet – Review

darknetThis review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.

Without giving any spoilers, DarkNet is the story of a young women who decide to use the darkest thing the Internet can offer…

First of all, let me say I really like the premise of the book. The use of TOR or any privacy oriented software is very actual in my mind with all the revelations by Snowden and all the new laws being voted by government to control and spy on people browsing the Internet.

Now, the review itself… The idea was there but I’m a bit unsatisfied with the execution. I don’t mind characters being “abused”, I don’t mind the violence and the sex but some scene were kind of misplaced or not bringing anything to the story.

There is no real likeable character. The only exception was, maybe, Cindy’s daughter. Also, some of them are not believable for me…

It’s a quick read and some of you will like it if you want a mix of (actual) tech and violence.

I would give it 2.5 stars.
